Apple vägrar hårdnackat att acceptera den allmänna uppfattningen att för att kunna utveckla br a och tillförlitliga AI-tjänster så måste enskilda användare kartläggas.
Det handlar om Siri och liknande tjänster där mjukvara lär sig mer om oss, våra vanor och vad vi vill för att bättre kunna servern oss tillförlitliga resultat, articifiell intelligens.
I debatten runt den typen av mjukvaror och lösningar så finns det en vanlig uppfattning att den enskilde användaren måste kartläggas för att tjänsterna ska bli tillräckligt tillförlitliga. Något som Apple vägrar att ställa upp på.

People would like you to believe you have to give up privacy to have AI do something for you, but we don’t buy that. It might take more work, it might take more thinking, but I don’t think we should throw our privacy away. It’s sort of like the age old argument between privacy and security. You should have both. You shouldn’t have to make a choice.

Ecuador bekräftar att de stängt Assanges internetuppkoppling
Ecuador bekräftar nu att de stängt ned Julian Assanges internetuppkoppling. Talespersoner för den ecuadorianska regeringen säger att det gjorts för att förhindra att Wikileaks blandar sig i det amerikanska valet.
Wikileaks gick först ut med informationen att Julian Assanges tillgång till Internet stoppats efter en stats ingripande, utan att peka ut vare sig Ecuador eller något annat land. Senare pekade Wikileaks ut USA och dess utrikesminister John Kerry för att via påtryckning mot Ecuador stängt internetuppkopplingen.

Uppgifterna tillbakavisas både av USA och Ecuador.
”In that respect, Ecuador, exercising its sovereign right, has temporarily restricted access to part of its communications systems in its UK Embassy,” it added in a statement.
”The Ecuador government respects the principle of non-intervention in other countries’ affairs, it does not meddle in election processes underway, nor does it support any candidate specially.”

Ecuador har inte kommenterat varför internetuppkopplingen stoppats men Wikileaks menar att det är på uppmaning av brittiska och amerikanska myndigheter sedan Wikileaks publicerats information inifrån det amerikanska demokratiska partiet. Information som kan skada presidentkandidaten Hillary Clinton. Bland annat så har utdrag av hennes tal inför bankorganisationer, investerare och andra publicerats. Tal som fram till nu hållits hemliga.
”We can confirm Ecuador cut off Assange’s internet access Saturday, 5 pm GMT, shortly after publication of (Hillary) Clinton’s Goldman Sachs speechs (sic),” the statement from WikiLeaks said.
Nyhetsbyrån Reuters gör kopplingen direkt till Ecuador president Rafael Correa som sagt att han stödjer Hillary Clinton som USAs nästa president.
Correa, whose term will end next year, has said he is behind
Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, who he says he knows personally, in the U.S. presidential election.
”For the good of the United States and the world … I would like Hillary to win,” Correa told broadcaster Russia Today last month.
Yahoo scannade kunders e-post åt amerikanska myndigheter
Yahoo stannade kunders e-post och lämnade över informationen till amerikanska myndigheter, nyhetsbyrån Reuters.
Enligt Reuters så utvecklade Yahoo egen mjukvara för samla in informationen som sedan lämnades över till amerikanska underrättelseorganisationer.
Yahoo Inc last year secretly built a custom software program to search all of its customers’ incoming emails for specific information provided by U.S. intelligence officials, according to people familiar with the matter.
The company complied with a classified U.S. government directive, scanning hundreds of millions of Yahoo Mail accounts at the behest of the National Security Agency or FBI, said two former employees and a third person apprised of the events.

Yahoos kommentar ovan är ovanligt vag och intetsägande. Den tar inte avstånd från Reuters uppgifter och förnekar inte från grava anklagelsen att Yahoo samlat in data från hundratals miljoner kunder ch sedan lämnat över den till amerikanska myndigheter.
Tim Cook pratar om kryptering, Apple och Steve Jobs
Tim Cook var en av gästerna vid Utah Twch Forum nyligen och han intervjuades på scen där han pratade mycket om Apple kamp för bättre, säkrare kryptering och vad det innebär för oss som individer.
Apple har tagit stark ställen ing för kryptering och har slagits mot amerikanska FBI och de amerikanska Justitiedepartementet för rätten att skydda sona kunders sata.
We throw all of ourselves into this and are very much standing on principle in this. We believe the only way to protect both your privacy and safety from a cyber attack is to encrypt. Encryption is inherently great. And we would not be a safe society without it.
Tim Cook fick också frågor om Steve Jobs, den man och grundaren av Apple som han efterträdde.
Tyska myndigheter stoppar Facebooks datainsamlande via WhatsApp och att all information som samlats in hitills ska förstöras, omedelbart.
Facebooks insamlande av data via WhatsApp anses olagligt i Tyskland då det handlar om två skilda företag.
Facebook and WhatsApp are independent companies that process their user’s data on the basis of their own Terms and Conditions and Data Privacy Policies. After the acquisition of WhatsApp by Facebook two years ago, both parties have publicly assured that data will not be shared between them. The fact that this is now happening is not only a misleading of their users and the public, but also constitutes an infringement of national data protection law. Such an exchange is only admissible if both companies, the one that provides the data (WhatsApp) as well as the receiving company (Facebook) have established a legal basis for doing so. Facebook, however, neither has obtained an effective approval from the WhatsApp users, nor does a legal basis for the data reception exist. It is clear that Facebook must respect German data protection law after the ECJ confirmed in its ruling from July, that national data protection laws are applicable if a company processes data in connection with a national subsidiary. Facebook is doing this through its subsidiary in Hamburg, whoch is responsible for the operation of the marketing business in German- speaking regions.
