Hair may grow in a completely different way than scientists once believed. Instead of being pushed out from the root, new research shows that moving cells inside the follicle actually pull the hair upward like a microscopic motor. Advanced 3D imaging revealed a spiral movement of cells that generates this force. The finding could change how scientists study hair loss and design future treatments.

Picture this: You’re at a picnic on a hot day and grab a cold Coke out of the cooler. It’s wet, you drop it, but think “eh, it’s fine.” You pop the can open and SPLASH—there’s soda all over white shirt.
Could you have prevented this beverage tragedy? Yes, with a little help from science.
YouTuber and former NASA engineer Mark Rober explains how four taps on the can will diffuse the explosion. When you shake a can of soda, seltzer, or any carbonated beverage, the CO2 gas inside the top of the can redistributes along the edges of the can, into the liquid itself. Upon cracking the tab open, the CO2 gas bubbles push the liquid out with a surge. By strategically tapping the can in four key places, you can move those gas bubbles back where they belong.

The AI company he founded three years ago has lost six co-founders, is slashing staff, and trails badly in coding benchmarks. Musk’s remedy: rebuild from scratch, for the second time.
In March 2023, Elon Musk launched xAI with 12 co-founders and a stated ambition to build “the most powerful AI in the world.” Three years later, 10 of those founders have gone.
The company is cutting staff. Its flagship chatbot Grok is acknowledged, by Musk himself, to lag behind its main competitors. And for at least the second time, Musk has declared that xAI must be rebuilt from the foundations.

Apple’s push into cheaper laptops is also reshaping how its hardware gets fixed. In the MacBook Neo, a stripped-down internal design, modular components, and lower service fees come together in a way that makes repairs both technically simpler and significantly less expensive than on Apple’s other notebooks, a notable shift for anyone used to paying top-case prices for relatively minor damage.
Unlike recent MacBook Air and Pro models, where Apple’s unibody ”top case” design turns keyboard problems into major surgery, the Neo’s keyboard is treated as its own part rather than being permanently bundled with the upper shell.
