Meta, the owner of Instagram and Facebook, has bought Moltbook, a social media networking platform for artificial intelligence (AI) bots to speak to each other.
The deal will move Moltbook’s team into Meta’s Superintelligence Labs and bring ”new ways for AI agents to work for people and businesses”, Meta said.
The Reddit-like site started as an experiment in January for AI-powered programs to have their own conversations – and even gossip about their human owners – on Moltbook’s forums.
Many in the technology industry have been captivated by the computer-led dialogue on Moltbook’s forums, but it has also fuelled cyber security and ethical concerns regarding AI’s autonomy.

While the MacBook Neo achieves a breakthrough $599 starting price, that of course comes with some compromises, and one of them is slower SSD speeds. The Verge today said the MacBook Neo had up to 8× slower sustained SSD read and write speeds in a benchmark test compared to the new MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. The site did not mention which tool it used to measure SSD speeds, but it was likely Blackmagic’s Disk Speed Test or AmorphousDiskMark.

A previously long-lost concert film capturing George Michael at the height of his early solo career will arrive in movie theaters later this year, alongside a new 18-track album of his unreleased recordings.
The previously unseen footage, which has been restored and remastered, will be compiled into George Michael: The Faith Tour. Filmed during Michael’s first tour, in 1988, the video was captured across 14 cameras on 35mm film over two performances in Paris at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy. (The venue is now called Accor Arena.)
