OpenAI is acquiring Astral, the company behind the widely used Python tools Ruff, uv, and ty. Astral founder Charlie Marsh announced that his team is joining OpenAI’s Codex team, the company’s platform for agentic AI coding. According to Marsh, Astral’s tools are downloaded hundreds of millions of times each month and have become a core part of modern Python development. Marsh says integrating them with Codex gives both projects the most room to grow. Astral was backed by Accel and Andreessen Horowitz, among others.

Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed show has entered production and will officially be set in Rome in the year 64AD, confirming previous reports.

The upcoming adaptation, then, will return to the setting of 2010’s Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, although the latter’s story took place more than 1,000 years after the events we’ll see in Netflix’s show. Ubisoft confirmed in a press release that the Netflix series will tell an original story centered on a war between the Templar Order and the Assassin Brotherhood, who each have very different ideas on how the future of mankind should look.

Robert Mueller, the former FBI director who led the historic probe into alleged collusion between Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign and the Russian government, has died. He was 81.

“With deep sadness, we are sharing the news that Bob passed away last night,” his family said in a statement Saturday. “His family asks that their privacy be respected.”

His family announced last August that he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2021

Apple’s latest budget-friendly MacBook Neo has already found its first major hardware mod – and it didn’t come from Cupertino. A Chinese technician known as DirectorFeng has successfully upgraded the laptop’s soldered 256GB storage to a full terabyte, turning what Apple sells as a sealed, low-cost device into something significantly more capable.

The project, documented in a detailed teardown video, walks through each stage of the hardware surgery. What begins as a straightforward disassembly quickly becomes a display of precision engineering rarely seen outside of Apple’s manufacturing lines.

The highest grossing animated movie in MPA history, Zootopia 2 ($1.866B), clocked 32 million views globally in its first seven days on Disney+. Zootopia 2 dropped on Disney+ on March 11.

Altogether, Zootopia, Zootopia+, and Zootopia 2 have been streamed over 885 million hours globally to date. 

Zootopia 2 is also the eighth highest-grossing film ever and the No. 1 domestic release of 2025. The first movie, Zootopia, ranks as the No. 7 movie on Disney+ of all time and has been one of the most-streamed movies across all platforms in the U.S. for three out of the last six years, according to Nielsen.
