The MacBook Neo’s two USB-C ports have two different specifications, with one being limited to USB 2 speeds. One port is a USB-C 3 port with support for data transfer speeds up to 10 Gb/s, while the other is a USB-C 2 port with support for data transfer speeds up to 480 Mb/s. Both support charging, but only the USB-C 3 port features DisplayPort, so users will need to make sure they are hooked up to the correct port when using an external display. There is no way to tell them apart externally.

A new wrongful death lawsuit has been brought against Google, from the father of a man, Jonathan Gavalas, who claimed to be in love with Gemini and died by suicide.
The federal complaint alleges that Google designed its chatbot to “maximize engagement through emotional dependency” in an effort to dominate the market and that the company failed to deploy appropriate safety measures despite Gavalas’ indications of suicidal ideation.
As tech companies race to create the most advanced AI technologies, preventing real-world harm has been a significant technical challenge. The lawsuit is one of several against AI companies, brought by the families of users who claim their chatbots caused harm. Just last month, Google and Character.ai agreed to settle a case from the family of a Florida teen who died by suicide in 2024.

Ohio-based Pete Wenzler estimates he’s spent over $20,000 on games and services using his PlayStation Network (PSN) account, but he lost it all to a hacker, and Sony refuses to help.
”If I call customer service, they won’t speak to me at all,” he tells PCMag.
Wenzler, whose account was hijacked on Jan. 12, is just one victim in a growing trend in which hackers allegedly manipulate Sony’s customer support into granting access to PlayStation accounts. The incidents are alarming because they bypass two-factor authentication (2FA) and even passkeys on a PSN account, two security mechanisms designed to prevent hijackings.
