John Oliver addressed the harsh reality that he might be getting a new “business daddy” soon with a bit about Paramount Skydance’s now-likely acquisition of HBO parent company Warner Bros. Discovery.
On Sunday’s episode of Last Week Tonight, Oliver briefly addressed the news that Netflix — long in pole position to acquire Warner Bros. — had decided not to match Paramount’s latest bid for the studio. While the deal is far from done, the sale isn’t expected to face much regulatory resistance in the U.S., as the Trump administration has not been subtle about its preference for Paramount over Netflix.

Amazon’s cloud services are down in some of the Middle East after “objects” hit data centers in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) causing “sparks and fire.” Around 60 services tied to AWS are down in the region, affecting web traffic in the UAE and Bahrain. The outage comes following Iranian attacks on the UAE as retaliation for US and Israeli strikes on Iran.
Customers in Bahrain and the UAE began to report outages tied to the mec1-az2 and mec1-az3 clusters in AWS’ ME-CENTRAL-1 Region on March 1 after Iranian ballistic missiles and drones struck targets in and around Dubai. Amazon did not confirm that AWS was down in the Middle East due to an Iranian attack and instead referred 404 Media to its online dashboard.

Quentin Tarantino is alive and well, we’ve been told by sources close to the filmmaker, contrary to misinformation on X.
In the past 24 hours, a user with more than 150k followers posted to X claiming that Tarantino had died in an Iranian missile attack on Israel, where Tarantino splits his time with LA. The post erroneously credited Deadline as source for the news.
The post has been liked more than a thousand times and has been picked up by other users. Another account posted that Jerry Seinfeld has been killed in similar fashion, once again crediting Deadline. There is no evidence for this to be true either but the post has been liked thousands of times. The posts have been reported to X.

Pokémon fans have found evidence classic games Ruby & Sapphire could also be making their way to the Nintendo Switch.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon, the 2004 remakes of the original Red & Blue games were added to the Nintendo eShop last week, making them available on Switch for the very first time.
Many fans assumed Nintendo had just used an old version of FireRed & LeafGreen for the release but over the weekend, a few subtle changes were discovered. An updated censor will stop you from using NSFW language when naming Pokémon and event tickets have been added to the post-game, meaning fans can now catch legendary creatures Ho-Oh and Lugia.

Hit multiplayer game Overcooked!: All You Can Eat is set to come to Netflix later this week, alongside collaborations with Stranger Things and KPop Demon Hunters.
As seen on the ‘coming soon’ section of Netflix Games, Overcooked!: All You Can Eat will be available to subscribers from March 5 via their cloud gaming service. This means you won’t be able to download Overcooked!: All You Can Eat to play on mobile, but you will be able to stream it via the Netflix app

Suddenly, Jim Carrey became the new Avril Lavigne.
The actor’s appearance at the César Awards in Paris last week spawned a surge of conspiracy theories that the Dumb and Dumber actor had been replaced by a clone.
The reason for the theories seemed to be the 64-year-old actor’s face looking possibly a bit inflamed in some of the footage online.
“Sorry but there’s a zero percent chance this is actually Jim Carrey,” declared one account with 47,000 followers on X. “I’m not saying it’s a clone or some dumb illuminati shit, but for some reason he’s clearly using a body double to stand in for him.”
