The beauty of Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi produced films is that you always know what you’re getting into. You get weird characters thrust into even weirder situations, and you have to rely on their charm to carry you through whatever chaotic premise the screenplay lays out. More often than not, outings from this era, like 1991’s Lunatics: A Love Story, are extremely low budget, low brow, and high concept, and you just have to roll with it.

Investors didn’t want Netflix to buy Warner Bros. Discovery.
Republicans didn’t want the deal to happen, either.
So now it’s dead.
That’s the cleanest and most likely explanation for Netflix walking away from the $83 billion transaction it agreed to a few months ago.
Netflix’s move means that, barring something very surprising, Larry and David Ellison’s Paramount will end up owning all of WBD: not just the movie/TV studio and HBO, which Netflix wanted to buy, but its collection of TV networks as well, including CNN.

US ice hockey star Brady Tkachuk has said he does not appreciate an AI video released by the White House that shows him insulting Canadians.
Tkachuk played in the Americans’ victory over Canada at the Winter Olympics on Sunday, which secured the US men their first gold medal since 1980. In the wake of that win, the White House’s TikTok account published video of Tkachuk saying: “They booed our national anthem, so I had to come out and teach those maple syrup eating fuckers a lesson.”
Tkachuk never said those words and the video, which has had more than 10m views, is labelled as AI-generated.

Netflix said it would not submit a higher offer for Warner Bros. Discovery after the company’s board described Paramount Skydance’s latest offer as ”superior.”
The stunning twist leaves Paramount Skydance, headed by David Ellison, as the remaining bidder and in position to take control of the storied media giant.
Paramount’s bid was for the entire company while Netflix was seeking to acquire only its streaming service, HBO cable channel and film studio business.
