AI-generated passwords are surprisingly easy to crack, researchers find

As we continue waiting for it to find a cure for cancer, it seems there’s something else that AI isn’t very good at: generating passwords. New research suggests that asking large language models to create ”strong” passwords might be a surprisingly bad idea.
Security firm Irregular analyzed outputs from tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini, and found that many AI-generated passwords appear complex but are actually highly predictable and crackable.
When asked to generate 6-character secure passwords including special characters, numbers, and letters, the models produced repeated patterns and even identical outputs across multiple prompts.

iPhone 17 Battery Test: Real-World Results Challenge Apple’s Big Claims

When Apple unveiled the iPhone 17 lineup, it talked up major battery gains. But a side-by-side test suggests the story is more nuanced.

Popular tech creator Arun Maini, better known as Mrwhosetheboss, lined up every iPhone 17 model and ran them through what he described as a realistic day of use to determine which model actually lasts the longest and whether Apple’s bold promises hold up.

The experiment compared the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the new Air model against the iPhone 16, 16 Pro Max, and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Ultra.

All phones were charged to 100%, updated to the latest software, and used in a controlled 16°C room. The usage simulated a normal day: watching YouTube, scrolling through Instagram and X, messaging on Slack, streaming music, and recording 4K video at 60 fps. Devices were kept side by side to ensure consistency.

New ’Massiv’ Android banking malware poses as an IPTV app

A new Android banking malware, which researchers named Massiv, is posing as an IPTV app to steal digital identities and access online banking accounts.

The malware relies on screen overlays and keylogging to obtain sensitive data and can take remote control of a compromised device.

In a campaign observed by researchers at fraud detection and mobile threat intelligence company ThreatFabric, Massiv targeted a Portuguese government app that connects with Chave Móvel Digital – Portugal’s digital authentication and signature system.

Could Apple Demo Immersive F1 on Vision Pro at Its March 4 Event?

Could Apple Demo Immersive F1 on Vision Pro at Its March 4 Event?

Apple’s upcoming March 4 media event could include a demo of immersive Formula 1 content on Apple Vision Pro, Daring Fireball’s John Gruber has suggested.

The timing appears to be what’s sparked the idea. The 2026 F1 season kicks off in Australia on March 8, just four days after the ”Apple Experience” set to be held in New York, London, and Shanghai.

Apple became the exclusive U.S. broadcast partner for Formula 1 last October, and the company has already been experimenting with live immersive sports on Vision Pro with a limited slate of Los Angeles Lakers games this season. If Apple has plans to stream F1 races live on Vision Pro with some level of immersion, March 4 would likely be a great opportunity to show it off to the press.
